The last race of the Hot August Nights Promotional swing wrapped up last night at Ephrata Raceway Park with Mike Fought in the 360 Sprints, Skyler Leseman in the Pepsi Cola Street Stocks, Doug Brown in the Schaeffer Oil Mini Stocks and Kelly Olsick in the Kim Janke State Farm Agent Youth Hornets taking home Main Event victories.

As summertime winds down and the season long points battles come to a close Mike Fought finds himself once again at the top of the heap in the 360 Sprint class at Ephrata Raceway Park. Fought got around race long leader Tom Beierman on the 11th lap and cruised to the victory. Joe Smith passed Beierman a few laps later for second with Beierman coming in third. The win extends Fought’s point lead and almost assures him of a season Championship. Fought set fast time with a 13.181 second lap. Joe Smith won the Trophy Dash and Heat Race for the division.

With some new drivers and different cars to contend with Skyler Leseman took home another win in the Pepsi Cola Street Stocks. Leseman led 14 of the 15 lap Main Event for the win. Add in the fast time for the night at 16.246, Trophy Dash and Heat Race victories and chalk up a clean sweep for Leseman.

A crazy conclusion to the Schaeffer Oil Mini Stocks saw point leader Bart Hector, Jr. and JR Miner tangle at the finish line with both cars locked together heading for the infield. Hector, Jr. hit a euke tire at the end of the straightaway and took a wild ride ending up on his roof upside down. He emerged unscathed from the wreck but did manage to pull off the second place finish and keep his point lead. Miner was third with both drivers behind race winner Doug Brown. Brown used his 6th starting position outside third row to make a big move and lead all 20 laps of the Main Event. Fast time went to Miner with a 16.595, with Trophy Dash wins going to Jeremy Razey and Hector. Sean Meyers won the Heat Race.

A post race qualification took away the Main Event win from Tyler Redin in the Kim Janke State Farm Agent Youth Hornets. After Tyler Redin and Dylan Adamson had finished first and second in the Main, post race tech inspection found improper camber adjustments to the front wheels resulting in the change of finish. Redin set fast time at 17.470. Olsick and Redin winning the Trophy Dashes. Adamson and Colton Fisher were the Heat Race winners.

The two Monster Jam Monster Trucks at Ephrata Raceway Park were El Matador driven by Darren Basil of Magnolia, Texas and King Krunch driven by Gary Schott, Jr. of San Diego, California. The two trucks ran a myriad of courses and held a wheelie contest. With all the airborne stunts and high flying action they had the crowd on its feet much of the evening.

Next week at Ephrata Raceway Park is Topless Night featuring non-wing 360 Sprints, the non-wing Midgets of WMRA, along with Vintage Sprints and Golden Wheel Vintage Midgets. It is also Season Championship Night for the Jerry’s Auto Supply BIG CARS. Gates open at 5pm with racing at 7pm. The track is holding a Food Drive for the Ephrata Food Bank that night. Any person bringing in 3 non-perishable food items will get $3.00 off their adult ticket, and if they bring kids they get $2.00 off their ticket as well for each kid in their group. More details are available at the track website www.ephrataracewaypark.com.
