Logano Captures Second NASCAR Toyota All-Star Showdown Victory

Joey Logano, 19, held off 16-year-old Sergio Pena and two-time race winner Matt Kobyluck for the victory in the 225-lap race Saturday before a sold-out crowd at the Toyota Speedway at Irwindale.

Pena Makes A Splash At NASCAR Toyota All-Star Showdown

Sergio Pena, a member of NASCAR’s Drive for Diversity initiative, earned his way into the event by competing in a qualifying race among his three teammates at Revolution Racing in similarly prepared cars from one of Toyota Speedway’s entry divisions on Thursday evening. A run-away win in that run-off allowed Pena a shot at competing on Friday.

Force Cars Fast In NHRA Pre-Season Testing

John Force Racing’s Funny Cars have shown the strongest runs in pre-season testing being held in Phoenix, AZ this week. Robert Hight, defeding NHRA Full Throttle Funny Car champion, led the three car team and all participants with a 4.05-sec. pass at over 310 mph.

Looking at their 2009 seasons on paper, Donny Schatz and Jason Meyers had nearly identical stats. Schatz was victorious 12 times while Meyers picked up a career-best 10 wins. Schatz led the World of Outlaws with 39 Top-Five finishes while Meyers racked up 34. Meyers led the series with 55 Top-10 finishes which was one more than Schatz.
