Joey Bird, who looks to get his late model career started after a successful stint in Stateline’s Baby Grands division, makes his debut this weekend in the Stateline Speedway late model division. Bird has multiple karting and Baby Grand main event victories along with several championships. Purchasing a car recently raced by Braeden Havens, Bird will be one to watch in the late model division.
Braeden Havens has had success when debuting on a new series including a top-5 finish in his late model debut. This start will be different as the college freshman will face as many as three past NASCAR Northwest Touring champions (Ron Eaton, Garrett Evans and Gary Lewis) along with what is considered the strongest fields of late model talent to race in the region in many years.
Braeden Havens, who finished third in the 2012 NASCAR K&N Pro Series Rookie of the Year standings, has found success at Evergreen in the past with his late model. Getting the chance to run the high speeds of the .675-mile oval as the first race of the season will be a good test to start the year.
This weekend Spokane's Braeden Havens heads to The Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, a track he has competed on in the past, for the Star Nursery 200 on the NASCAR K&N Pro Series.
Last weekend's strong run on the NASCAR K&N Pro Series earned Braeden Havens the Coca-Cola Move of the Race award which is presented to the driver who advances the most positions forward from their starting position at the drop of the checkered flag.
