Courtney Force invades zMAX Dragway this weekend as the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series Funny Car points leader.

Courtney Force started the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing season off on the right foot with a Funny Car win in the 2013 Winternationals.

Courtney Force, Tony Schumacher and Mike Edwards lead their respective divisions in qualifying for the 2013 NHRA Winternationals as the Mello Yello Drag Racing Series heads into Sunday's final round.

Shawn Langdon (Top Fuel), Courtney Force (Funny Car), Allen Johnson (Pro Stock) and Hector Arana Jr. (Pro Stock Motorcycle) will lead their categories into Sunday’s eliminations at the second of six playoff events in the NHRA Full Throttle Countdown to the Championship.

Courtney Force, a 24-year-old rookie Funny Car driver, powered her Traxxas Ford Mustang to a career-best performance of 4.049 seconds at a track record speed of 317.27 mph to take the top spot. She will face Jon Capps in the opening round of eliminations as she seeks her second win of the season and tries to win the world's most prestigious drag race.

For the first time in NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series history, two female drivers claimed Wally trophies at the same event. Courtney Force powered her Traxxas Ford Mustang Funny Car to the winner's circle for the first time in her career, and Erica Enders earned her second career Pro Stock victory in her GK Racing Chevy Cobalt at the O'Reilly Auto Parts NHRA Northwest Nationals presented by Super Start Batteries at Pacific Raceways.

Courtney Force, the 23-year-old daughter of 15-time Funny Car world champ John Force has come a long way since February’s season-opener. Since then she has qualified for every race, posted semifinal efforts at Phoenix and Englishtown, shined during final qualifying at Topeka and logged a career-best time of 4.098 seconds. She’s also tagged the wall at high speed and experienced an engine explosion up close and personal.
