West Corp. will hire at least 250 workers for its Spokane call center

Omaha-based West Corp. will hire at least 250 call center workers for its downtown Spokane building, the company announced Tuesday.

Hiring will begin this week, with paid training starting on Nov. 2, said David Pleiss, vice president of investor and public relations.

Jobs will start at $10 per hour and include benefits such as tuition compensation. All new jobs will be full-time, said Pleiss.

West Corp. employs roughly 950 area workers at two locations, in Spokane Valley and downtown. The new positions will be based in the downtown Holley Mason Building, 157 S. Howard.

Driving the growth has been continued expansion by three major clients, Pleiss said. Those are a wireless carrier, a major grocery company and a financial services company. West Corp. hired about 190 workers in September 2010.

West will conduct on-the-spot job interviews at two job fairs on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Oct. 26 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., both at the Holley Mason Building.
