Couple plans new sports bar in Painted Hills gold course clubhouse

Scott and Deanna Reckord, who operate the Sullivan Scoreboard Bar and Grill, will open a new sports bar and pub in the former Painted Hills Golf Course clubhouse, at 4403 S. Dishman-Mica Road. They call the business the Clubhouse at Painted Hills.

Developer Dave Black, who bought the golf course in 2013 following a bankruptcy by the previous owners, said he has not yet submitted a development plan for new residential units in the 30-acre parcel.

Scott Reckord said Black’s plans are the reason why he’s optimistic about the new eatery.

“There’s really no other place out here for the residents who are coming into this area,” Scott Reckord said.

The lunch fare will be traditional pub offerings. Evening meals will offer a range of standard sports bar menu items, he said.

The Reckords hope to open by Jan. 1.

Kaitlin Caudle and Bryan Walker, of NAI Black, helped broker the lease.

Here’s the full story on new Anthony’s going into Spokane’s South Hill

Anthony’s Restaurants will open a second Spokane location on the city’s South Hill this fall, near a new Target store.

The Kirkland-based company said the new location will be called Anthony’s Beach Cafe. It will take the pad building in the development near the new Target, which is due to open in July. (Map shows the “B” pad building on the northwest corner of the development.)

The new Anthony’s eatery will open in October, after hiring about 50 workers, said Lane Hoss, the company’s marketing director.

It will be the company’s 24th property in the Northwest. “It will focus on more casual, relaxed dining, with a lighter menu” than other Anthony’s restaurants, Hoss said. For instance, its traditional restaurants don’t serve fish tacos. The beach cafe will, she said.

“We also see it appealing to families and people who are looking to go out for a spur-of-the-moment meal,” she said.

The restaurant is using about 4,000 square feet in the northwest corner building. It's designed with 106 interior seats and 70 seats for outside dining. It will offer lunch and dinner seven days a week.

The company has a downtown Anthony’s at Spokane Falls which will continue in business

AAA of Spokane is relocating its downtown Spokane office to the South Hill, taking the space of the former restaurant Savory, at 1314 S. Grand Blvd.

The move will allow the automobile insurance and travel provider to reach out and provide more convenience to AAA members, said spokeswoman Cassie Devaney.  Its main Spokane office, at 1717 W. Fourth Ave., is for sale.

Savory closed earlier this year after opening (in a former video rental store) in 2011.

AAA is taking a 10-year lease from the building owners, an LLC that includes Spokane developer David Black.

The goal is to complete improvements and move in by the end of the year, Devaney said.

AAA will continue to operate its two other offices in Spokane and one in Coeur d’Alene.
