A quick look at the proposed mixed use building at Ninth and Perry

Here's one architectural rendering of the planned commercial-retail building that will go up at Ninth and Perry in the South Perry District of Spokane.

Owners Lisanne Laurier and Harold Preiksaitis say work will start on footings now, with construction likely to conclude in summer 2015.

The site has been an eyesore for about a year. Details on the delays were summarized in last week's Spokesman.com story.

The drawing comes via Scott Edwards Architects, out of Portland. Preiksaitis said no tenant deals have been concluded yet.

Two Wheel Transit prepares to peddle over to Perry Street

Downtown Spokane bicycle shop Two Wheel Transit Bicycles is moving in November to a new retail store in the South Perry Street district.

The move from 1405 W. First Ave. to about 5,000 square feet at 817 S. Perry, in the northern portion of the HiCo Market building, has been anticipated for months.

Owners Geoff Forshag and Bruce Abbots are closing the current store on Nov. 9 and opening the new store Nov. 13.

Forshag said the move will allow the store to provide more usable space and more customer amenities. Those include a kids' bike area, a bike fitting studio, a larger retail area and larger mechanics spaces.
