No real surprises for me. The graphic on the front page of your newspaper said it all. I am disappointed prop. 4 did not have a larger margin of defeat. Dang socialists. I did like the logic used to defeat I-1033, “We don't want to restrain government from taking more money from the people during hard economic times.” HAHAHAHAHA That is a good one.

That is a good one, Fetch. Good times. bad times; it is never time to put limits on government., it seems.

Maybe people in Washington believe what they get in return is worth what is taken? Did that ever factor into your thinking, richie? You've got it pretty good here anyway if you make lots of money with no income tax.

No Loone - A lot of people think it is worth it for OTHERS to give so THEY can receive.

I keep asking the quesrion; Where does it ever end? No ever gives me an answer.

But they really don't have to because I already know the answer. We see it in the “new” progressive views.

Gone is the notion that equality is “equal opportunity;” that has been replaced with the view that true equality is “equal outcomes.”

I believe in safety nets, but what the progressives want is no longer just a “net,” they want to rescue people both before and despite, their own mistakes or shortcomings. That is neither fair nor just nor is it a way to raise responsible children.

Just a different definition and justification for … socialism. (Oops! I know how you “progressives” hate that word!).

    Funny how that works.

Oops! My apologies to Loone.' Actually my words were directed at my dear friend spoketucky.

Hmmm “Richard,” think you should take up checking out the Inlander. Last week they had a little opinion piece on the socialism of the west. Uh huh, how the west was won had as much to do with gvt intervention as it had to do with settlers entering western territories. You can decry it now LOL! but you also benefited from it from the latter 19th century on.

    How about that.

I think it is now time to discard that “socialism” argument.

i really don't believe much in the Inlander. It is great when you want to check out restarurants, shows, and events in the area …but I sure wouldn't spend my time reading very much in it.

Besides … just becuase there may have been some socialist policies “out west” doesn't mean they were worthwhile or that they benefitted the people. I am sure the piece is an opinion piece …maybe even by that predictable, arrogant and boring Robert Herold.

Sounds like a trite piece he might write. I stopped reading him years ago.

“i really don't believe much in the Inlander.”
    -Richard

Guess you don't believe in the free market then either.

The Inlander, a private, for profit, enterprise, has seen phenomenal growth over many years, including in this recent very down market for print advertising. Their product is quite successful as evidenced by the numerous mostly local businesses that freely choose to spend their advertising dollars at that publication. If main street business organizations had a problem with the editorial content of the Inlander, they would choose to spend their scarce dollars elsewhere, not wanting to support or be tainted by a such an inferior, radical, publication.

And yet, businesses of all stripes have continued to support the Inlander and therefore subsidize it's stories and editorial content. Would such businesses do so if they thought the Inlander printed falsehoods and/or promoted a radical agenda. No.

Your perspective, Richard, par usual, is deeply flawed and contrary to the facts.

No kidding, “Richard” doesn't “believe” in anything if he doesn't have a complete agreement with it. And yes, “Richard,” you did benefit from socialist policies; as defined by the Inlander editorial content.

<<Guess you don't believe in the free market then either>>

How silly is that, Loone'? Someone “rejects” the free market because they reject the product?

    <<Flawed perspective>> ? really? How so?

Wow! You are really reaching to take a poke at me this time. Sorry, but you missed, again.

Unless something is really outrageous, most advertisers don't select where they advertise by the content - unless they sell a very specialized product. Small shops, restarurants, bars, etc aren't specialized. They cater to everybody.

And businesses aren't “supporting” a publication when they advertise in it - that is just the nature of any transaction. The free market doesn't need “causes” to function efficiently. It is mutually beneficial. A notion that is not very well understood in the “it takes a village” crowd.

I never said it was radical … I said I didn't read it much. I said Herold was predictable, arrogant and boring.

do you have any other misquotes you would like to add?

You really still need to find a hobby … you are losing your grip again.

And Druid … (why do I bother?) I may be getting old, but I wasn't around when the west was settled!

And just what is your point of this silly notion that there were socialist policies at play in the wild west, as one opinion writer said in the Inlander? and who cares if I reject the notion or not? I don't. Why are you putting so much energy into my reading habits and whether or not I believe the wild west was a socialist paradise or not?

Aren't there bigger issues to deal with in life? good grief!

Apparently, “Richard,” you don't have anything ELSE to do with your time than to express your own arrogant, boring and etc. attitudes on this blog that you then project onto others. Why do I waste any energy on you? I actually don't. But I love watching you fall for it every time I put out a lure and watch you flail around in pure shrieking fury. You sure waste a great deal of energy, “Richard.” I only come over to the S-R on line when I feel I want to express something.

Druid … both you and Loone need a hobby. You are now just blathering about nothing in particular.

it could be long winter - get a hobby!
