That Coeur d’Alene Council race between Mike Kennedy and Jim Brannon is amazingly close. Five votes. Wonder how many people didn’t vote, because they figured it wouldn’t matter.
I almost didn’t vote because I don’t have much faith in our voting system. And as usual my vote didn’t count. How can anyone vote do allow government to spend unrestrained? In today’s economy when we have seen government waste and give away billions of dollars while so many of our neighbors are unemployed?
Winter is coming and so many are going to be without. But do you think our government will care? Congress just received their cost of living raise what raise did you get this year?
Sadly I really am starting to think it does no good for private sector to vote government workers control the elections because they out number us. We really have no voice.
Maybe we should have two sections of vote one for private sector and one for government worker so at least we would have some sort of documentation. Right now we are a bunch of ducks in a pond surrounded by tanks.
Nothing political, but this put an extra jolt in my morning coffee —
It's an eye-popping, not to mention long and detailed, front-page story in today’s WSJ about the marijuana farms in Washington state run by Mexican gangs (Los Zetos in particular) operating in the Colville National Forest and Colville Reservation. This freaked me out – “There is enough gun trafficking that Washington state now ranks fourth as a supplier of weapons to Mexican drug gangs after Texas, California and Arizona, according to police. “A weapon bought here for $1,000 can be sold for $3,000 or even $6,000” south of the border, says Michael Akins, lead investigator for a multiagency drug task force, called Operation Green Jam.
Obama-centric News Coverage of the Obama administration has focused heavily on the president himself. Even members of his family have been featured in more stories than most than most of his appointees. Top 10 administration newsmakers: 1. President Obama – 1205 stories 2. H. Clinton – 107 3. T. Geithner – 83 4. Michelle Obama – 79 5. Joe Biden – 33 6. E. Holder – 31 7. R. Gates – 30 8. Sasha Obama – 28 8. Malia Obama – 28 10. R. Gibbs – 20
You left this out of discussion. Issues v. Personality and Image … still sounds like a “Love Story” to me.
I have never argued that media fails to cover major news stories (and if the stories are negative [economy] they can’t and don’t change the facts).
But when we get more coverage of Michelle’s “biceps” than those who are making the decisions and policies, what else can you call it but a “Love Story?”
With the failings so far by this administration, we don’t have the luxury of hearing about “thrills up my leg.”
But thanks for the consideration of my views; it shows me you are taking my concerns more seriously than you let on! : - )
Hmmm, “Richard,” Obama centric news coverage which the Spokesman-Review featured good old Krauthammer hooting and hollering that with two off-season elections where GOP radicals gained two governorships and a 23rd district up in NY went to the dems after the TEAbaggers weighed in that the Obama fluke was now over. The year is not over with and the GOP still have plenty of means to make an utter mess of the party.
Geeze, the first bi-racial president and why wouldn't he get a whole lotta coverage? Sounds to me that you are simply jealous.

Richard,
This should make your day. Obama coverage on TV generally negative after the first 100 days.

Oh, I see some print publications are included in that survey. My mistake.
