FISHING —  “We are pretty proud of the store we designed and built all of the store fixtures and displays,” said Jesse Clark in November 2010.

He and his son, John Clark, had just opened Westslope Fly Shop in the Riverwalk building at1003 E. Trent, next to Northern Lights Brewery.

Just 23 months later, the economy had consumed their efforts.

"We closed the shop on Oct. 24," Clark wrote in an email while I was on a hunting vacation the past two weeks.
"We just couldn't make it. The economic situation just kept hammering us. With the uncertainty of the economy on everybody's minds the willingness to spend money on a hobby got weaker and weaker.

"We enjoyed the time we were in business, made a lot of friends and worked with local clubs to improve fishing opportunities in the area.

"A mention of our appreciation in one of your columns would be appreciated."
