49 Degrees North ski area plans to open Sunday

WINTERSPORTS -- 49 Degrees North ski area near Chewelah has just announced plans to open Sunday, Dec. 6, with limited terrain and discounted tickets.

"We are out grooming right now, and we have a very good dense snowpack," the resort said in a media release Friday afternoon. W

"With a little snow from the predicted storms on Saturday and Saturday night we are looking forward to good early season conditions. Our plan at this time is to operate Chairlifts #1 and #3 as well as the Hobbit Handle Tow.

"Terrain will be limited but will include summit to base area runs, as well as beginner terrain.

These are early season conditions, and you can expect marked and unmarked obstacles so please bring the appropriate equipment.

"We plan on having full services available including, lessons, rental and repair, retail, and food and beverage."

Lift tickets will cost $25 for adults and $20 for youths.

"Be aware that we are at the mercy of Mother Nature," the release continues. "Depending on weather, our opening day plans could change.
