Mount Spokane parking area closed by rain on heavy snow

WINTERSPORTS -- Mount Spokane is a mess today. Best to leave it be, according to this report from Nora Searing a mountain resident and member of Spokane Nordic:

The Selkirk Parking Lot is CLOSED due to heavy wet snow conditions and the inability to remove the snow from the road leading from the Snowmobile Lot to the Selkirk Lodge. The recent snow fall was closely followed by rain which saturated the snow quite a lot and created very wet and heavy snow. The only snow removal equipment that is strong enough to move the current watery mixture are the large snow blowers. Unfortunately, the snow blowers are all out of commission with mechanical problems as of this morning. Please do not attempt to park in either the snowmobile lot or the Selkirk Parking Lot, any vehicles in the lot will become hazards for the snow removal equipment to work around. Patience is being asked for while the MSSP staff attempt to clear the parking lots.
