Spokane County acquired 280 acres on June 5, 2015, known as the Trautman property in the Nine Mile area adjacent to Riverside State Park. The land was acquired with county Conservation Futures funding and will be managed by the County Parks Department (Spokane County Parks)

PARKS – Proposals for managing a 280-acre “Trautman” addition to Riverside State Park will be discussed in a public workshop, 6:30 p.m., Thursday, June 25, at 6:30 p.m. at Lakeside Middle School Auditorium,  6169 Highway 291, Nine Mile Falls.

Management objectives to be addressed include:

  • Boundary adjustments with Spokane County.
  • Agreement with Spokane County Parks to manage the Trautman property.
  • Agreement for state parks to manage recreation on Lake Spokane lands owned by Avista.
  • Funding by Avista for recreational development.

The Trautman property acquisition at Nine Mile provides potential to link the Centennial Trail to Long Lake and the park’s Nine Mile Resort.
