Tanzania photo safari featured in free program tonight

WILDLIFE PHOTOGRAPHY – A free program on a local couple’s self-guided photo safari in northern Tanzania, full of encounters with lions, elephants and other African wildlife, will be presented Monday, 7 p.m., at Mountain Gear Corporate, 6021 E. Mansfield Ave. in Spokane Valley.

Bill and Debbie Pierce of Spokane rented a Land Rover for 15 days of exploring the national parks, remote Maasai and Bushman villages and marveling at the African night as they slept in a roof-top tent.

They ventured into well-known Serengeti National Park and Ngorongoro Crater as well as more remote places such as Lake Eyasi, where they hunted with natives, and the desolate alkaline Lake Natron and the active volcano known as Ol Doinyo Lengai.

The program is sponsored by the Spokane Mountaineers.
