Wild turkey hecklers feeling the spring fever

HUNTING -- It's the season for all wild turkey hunters to hang low.

Smarty-pants friends have started sending photos of turkeys strutting in their yards, decks and driveways as if to say hunting these birds is kid's play.

I used to try to explain that it's different in the woods trying to get a wild gobbler to come in close enough for a clear, safe shot.

But they never hear a word over all the snickering.

Let them have their fun. Until the general season opens April 15, I'm keeping a low profile.

Except to say to my friend Steve Heaps, who emailed the photo above: that tom in your picture has the distinct look in his eye of a gobbler looking at -- another turkey!
