HIKING – After nearly a week, the search for missing Pacific Crest Trail hiker Kris Fowler in the Ellensburg region has been suspended, Kittitas County authorities announced this morning.

“We have completed a physical search of the accessible sections of the 2,660-mile Pacific Crest Trail that runs through Kittitas County between Yakima, King and Chelan counties. Our search teams and investigators found no evidence or witnesses that could support learning Mr. Fowler’s current whereabouts,” according to a news release from the county Sheriff’s Office.

Here's more info from the Yakima Herald-Republic:

Fowler’s last confirmed sighting was Oct. 12 at White Pass, where he told a store clerk he was headed to Snoqualmie Pass. His family reported him missing after not hearing from him and learning that his cell phone had not been active for more than a week’s time.

Intending to hike the entire Pacific Crest Trail, 34-year-old Fowler of Beavercreek, Ohio, began his journey in southern California near the Mexico boarder in early May. He had walked more than 2,220 miles when he was reported missing.

Early last week, searchers with Yakima, Kittitas, Chelan and Okanogan counties began searching various areas of the trail without finding any trace of Fowler, authorities have said.

A GoFundMe account has been established for Fowler, and a Facebook page to assist in searching for him.
