PUBLIC LANDS -- Contractor work to restore the illegal road bulldozed into the South Hill bluff area in April is continuing through the weekend in a race to get hydroseeding done before weeds take over.  Here's the latest update from Avista and the city of Spokane.

During this second week of restoration Land Expressions continued restoring the road-cut.

As of today, a total of 2,900 feet of the road cut has been regraded and hydroseeded, with 1,500 feet of that, on the City’s property, replanted with trees and shrubs.

A number of the stumps and a large amount of the fallen trees have been used in the restoration effort to help direct hikers, runners, and cyclists, as well as to prevent erosion and create habitat.

All impacts of the restoration have continued to be confined to the original road cut.

Work may continue through part of the weekend, with restoration to continue on the City’s property next week.

As we continue this restoration effort we ask the public to be respectful of the private property and to stay off the restored area.

Weekly updates will be provided throughout this phase of the restoration project, at the city website: https://my.spokanecity.org/urbanforestry/bluff-restoration/.
