Are We There Yet?

Give Up Your Seat

In The Slice today, Paul Turner put in a mass transit etiquette statement from Liz Bourdon. She told of how young adults were sitting in the elderly reserved area and taking up more room than necessary. It is a shame to see any person, young or old, who will not give up their seat to anyone in need. It is a very simple lesson that parents should teach to their children.

Last weekend, we went out for breakfast, where several groups of people were waiting to be seated. When one of our children took a seat in the waiting area, I told him not to sit there. “Why?” he asked. I replied, “So that some one else who needs to sit down will have a seat to wait. We can stand.” It’s as simple as that.
