Are you a veggie-sneaker?
Jerry Seinfeld's wife, Jessica, is making waves with a recently published cookbook detailing dozens of ways to "sneak" pureed vegetables into kid-friendly foods.
Earlier this year, a similar book came out. (Now, there's some controversy about whether Seinfeld lifted some of the material for her book ... We don't care about that here.)
What is up for debate, though, is whether this is even a good idea.
Do you think it's smart to hide pureed carrot and spinach in brownies and trick your kids into eating it? Or is it better to encourage them to try veggies in their more natural form, lest they grow up thinking they can get all of their nutrition from brownies? (Oh, if only that were true ...)
As the mom of a very picky 3-year-old, I'm all for trying to squeeze in some nutrition whenever I can. And I've been known to "hide" some grated carrot in my spaghetti sauce. But, to me, it seems wrong to cram vegetables in things like cookies and brownies instead of putting a scoop of green beans on their plate.
So, what do you think?
