SPD Honor Guard to attend Seattle officer’s funeral

Spokane police Chief Anne Kirkpatrick and four members of the Police Department Honor Guard will attend the funeral of slain Seattle police Officer Timothy Brenton this week.

Brenton was shot to death Saturday following a routine traffic stop. He was in the passenger seat of a squad car training a new officer when a car pulled up alongside and shots fired. The car turned around and drove away, presumably to avoid the squad car’s dash camera, according to the Seattle Times.

A $105,000 reward is being offered for tips that lead to an arrest. Brenton has an 11-year-old daughter and an 8-year-old son.

Kirkpatrick, Sgt. Jon Anderson, Cpl. David Beckley, Officer Wayne Downing and Officer Shaney Redmon will attend Brenton’s memorial service Friday at the Key Arena. They leave Thursday.

While we honor Seattle Police Officer Brenton, let’s not forget Spokane’s own.

25 years ago yesterday, Spokane Police Detective Brian Orchard was gunned down after he confronted two gun thieves wanted for the theft of a valuable gun collection.

Orchard’s killer Lonnie Link was convicted of 1st degree murder and sentenced to life in prison.”— spokesman review

“Detective Orchard had served with the agency for 15 years. He was survived by his wife and three children.”

Brian’s killer is up for parole. Please help us keep him from being released. Lonnie Link was facing a death sentence for his slaying of Detective Orchard, but Orchard’s family relented on assurances from the prosecutor that Lonnie Link would remain locked up for the remainder of his life.

That same prosecutor has now written in support of releasing this cop killer back into the Spokane community.

What lifeskills would a motorcycle gang affiliated cop killer have that would keep him from returning to his previous life of crime?

Did they send an Honor Guard to Otto Zehm’s funeral or were they high fiving in the aisles of the Zip Trip?

So whose paying for this Boondoggle? Lets see free day off, overnight in some swanky hotet and a return trip.

Yes, i guess to get all dressed up in their “Class A” uniforms and to pay their respects to a murdered fellow police officer at a funeral is just a little “boondoggle”.

I am sure that each and every one of them thought, “gee a day off”.

Some people are so blinded by their hatred that they fail to see the value in anything.
