Man sought after SWAT comes up empty

Spokane police are looking for a domestic violence suspect they believe escaped before officers surrounded his Hillyard home for four hours on Saturday.

Police say Pedro J. Garcia, 35, was reported to be suicidal when they arrived at 2900 E. Diamond shortly before 8 p.m. Saturday to check on the safety of a woman there, according to the Spokane Police Department.

When the SWAT team entered the home after a four-hour standoff, Garcia wasn’t inside.

Now he’s being sought on charges of domestic violence, violating a protection order, burglary, unlawful imprisonment and harassment.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Check at (509) 456-2233.
