Spokane police chief is finalist for Seattle job

Spokane Police Chief Anne Kirkpatrick is one of 11 finalists to lead Seattle’s police force.

Seattle Mayor Mike McGinn’s office released the list Monday in a news release.

The finalists will be interviewed May 8 by McGinn’s chief search committee.

Other candidates include the police chiefs of Des Moines, Iowa; Sacramento; East Palo Alto, Calif.; and Lawrence, Mass. There are three internal candidates, including Interim Seattle Chief John Diaz.

Kirkpatrick announced earlier this year that she would apply for the job.
