Suspected pervert arrested at coffee shop

A 50-year-old man is accused of fondling himself in front of a Spokane Valley coffee stand employee while videotaping her reaction.

A police officer was inside Dagny's Coffee Co., 12900 E. Trent Ave., when Matt Alan Lambert, of Rathdrum, Idaho, began fondling himself in Wednesday, according to the Spokane Valley Police Department.

Police received a complaint earlier this week about a man who fondled himself while at the stand.

Officer Darin Powers stationed himself inside the stand Wednesday evening, and  Officer Eric Werner, who was stationed out-of-sight nearby, according to a news release.

Powers and Werner arrested Lambert on two counts of voyeurism, and he was booked into jail about 6:15 p.m. His 1992 Ford Aerostat minivan was impounded in anticipation of detectives obtaining a search warrant.

News archives show Lambert unsuccessfully ran for U.S. Congress while living in Murray, Idaho, in the mid 1990s.  He also had unsuccessful bids for the Idaho House of Representatives. Part of his campaign platform advocated for tougher sentences for sex offenders.
