‘Rave’ promoter pleads not guilty to rape

An event promoter accused of raping a 20-year-old woman was arraigned today in Spokane County Superior Court.

Jayme Allen Cozzetto, 41, pleaded not guilty to second-degree rape. He's out of jail on $25,000 bond awaiting trial.

Cozzetto is accused of raping the woman after she passed out at what police described as an all ages "rave" event at the Epicenter, 6425 N. Lidgerwood, on Oct. 8.

Cozzetto told police the sex was consensual.

"Cozzetto felt that (the woman) reported the incident as a rape because she was afraid of what her boyfriend would think," according to court documents.

The woman said she sent Cozzetto several text messages the next day. She asked Cozzetto in a text if they had sex, and he replied "U don't remember anything at all? How embarrassing omg..." according to court documents.

Event staff told police about the woman passing out in a bathroom stall with her clothes covered in vomit. They said Cozzetto said he would get help for the woman. They also said the woman was too incoherent to consent to sex.

Police arrested Cozzetto on a warrant during an Epicenter event on Dec. 30. He posted the $25,000 bond on Jan. 3.
