The Spokane Police Department has taken out a one-week banner ad to get the word out about their push to hire 12 new officers and lateral recruits. Police spokeswoman Monique Cotton said the ad went up Sunday and is scheduled to run through Feb. 1.

The campaign also included a print ad last in last Sunday's paper. Another ad is scheduled to run in print on Feb. 1, Cotton said.

The job posting on the city's website lists the salary range for entry-level cops as $47,627 to $81,327. An exam required for new applicants is scheduled for Feb. 25 at the Spokane Convention Center.

Lateral recruits are also encouraged to apply.
