egotripin on VA hospital locked down over gun threat on May 25 at 9:02 a.m.
I am sorry Seer but my husband (retired Airforce) gets his meds at the VA (one for pain) and he has never had a problem. This guy sounds like he over uses his meds and runs out before scheduled time. Which is the beginning of an addict. Mind you he also took a gun and threatened a gun this time so maybe he is not in his right mind!! I don/t fill so safe with my husband going to the VA now knowing this!!
The_Seer on VA hospital locked down over gun threat on May 24 at 10:17 a.m.
The VA is sometimes completely anal about their policies of filling prescriptions issued by physicians outside their facility. I used the VA in the late 90’s while finishing college and was issued a prescription by my dentist for six Vicodin (that I never took) for tooth pain before he could complete a root canal. My prescription went all over the hospital before ending up in the office of the hospital administrator. I got the same song and dance about my doctor not being there to authorize the prescription, even though I saw him several times walking through the waiting area. This was my first (and only) prescription for narcotics and I had to explain to the administrator why I required vicodin for tooth pain. I stated I wasn’t a medical expert and that she should call my dentist and asked why she issued the prescription.
All for six pills.
I understand questioning the veteran in this case. But I don’t really think it is their job to question the decisions of other medical professionals. It’s to provide services, which includes prescription re-fills, to qualified veterans. Nine years into treating this veteran with narcotics isn’t the time to start questioning the use of those drugs. More than likely his dependence began while still on active duty while recovering from wounds inflicted during conflict. That makes his dependence a service related disability and allowing his addiction to reach the point where he’d end up in jail for issuance of deadly threats is a fine way to say thanks for your service.

He would still be released if charges weren’t filed within three days.

avocet on 4 teens arrested in North Side shooting on May 16 at 10:35 a.m.
Just a quibble…while technically still in their teens, these suspects are 18 and therefore adults.
On another note, any updates on the Brian Moore trial?

Are all murder investigations handled with the enthusiasm this one is, or is this investigation simply getting more press?

@smittysturn—I will join you in commending the officers for doing the right thing in this situation! I am VERY unhappy with the officers who were involved with the entire Zehm incident and every one of them who supported the over-zealous behaviors that lead to all that nonsense. I am VERY pleased to see that 2 officers took the time to actually find out what was happening to this elderly gentleman and to help him. This is what we, the people, used to expect from our police force. Thank you to both of you who were human to this man!
writer26 on Phone scam targets Spokane businesses on May 02 at 7:31 p.m.
People should be aware that the police DO NOT contact people soliciting bond money on behalf of an arrested person. If ever you receive a call like that, you should contact local authorities. This was the advice posted at ww.callercenter.com and I certainly agree to it.

brianrbreen on Thompson sentencing delayed again on April 30 at 10:55 a.m.
“Van Sickle is not doing his job.”
Actually he is, and there are a number of ways one could read this. I’m sure Judge Van Sickle has read all of the filings and read very carefully the Frederick’s deposition. I think he would be remiss in not allowing Mr. Fredericks the opportunity to in some way respond, and this is the way.
I don’t know but I think the defense team is worried about this. I know I would be if I were on it.
Just saying.

princessdd on Thompson sentencing delayed again on April 30 at 8:55 a.m.
I don’t think I fully understand the judicial process here. It seems to me that most criminals, if convicted, are sentenced shortly thereafter - within a matter of days or maybe a week or two from the date of the conviction. Once they have been sentenced and are in prison is when the appeals process, if any, usually begins. How is it that Thompson can avoid being sentenced simply because his attorney is adamant about his innocence and wants to find some way to appeal the jury’s decision? Can’t this process of Orescovich finding fault with every aspect of the trial go on and on and on?
misjustice on Thompson sentencing delayed again on April 30 at 8:49 a.m.
Well, no surprise here.
CO had the liar, Fredericks, on his list of witnesses; if the testimony was so important and could have cleared Karl the Klubber, then why didn’t his own attorney call him to testify?
This is nothing more than a delaying tactic by the defense.

It’s funny how an article like this comes out, and all you see in the comment section is…..nothing. All the cop-hating blowhards must be busy doing something else.
