Grab the party hats and get your game face on - Saturday is Sirens & Gavels' 3rd birthday.
Some of you may already be planning epic celebrations, but for those of you I caught off guard, I apologize.
The idea behind this blog was simple - a devil-worshipping sex offender called me upset that a commenter said he was not a true member of the Church of Satan. I'd already written an adequate article about the man, and his phone call certanly didn't warant a follow up. But it was too remarkable to ignore.
Since then, this blog has become a hub for crime and court news in the Inland Northwest and anything else that might pique my interest. Regular readers should expect to see original content each weekday, links to nearly all crime and courts stories on spokesman.com, and weird news from around the world on Friday mornings.
Your praise and criticism is needed and appreciated. I am best reached at meghannc@spokesman.com or (509) 459-5534.
Here's to a great future for Sirens. Be sure to 'like' the blog on Facebook to show you're a true fan.

NEW YORK (AP) — A hip-hop mogul wanted by federal authorities on drug charges did not orchestrate a plot to ambush rapper Tupac Shakur outside a recording studio in the mid-1990s, his lawyer said Thursday.
The accusations against James Rosemond, owner of Czar Entertainment, were levied online and attributed to convicted killer Dexter Isaac, who is serving a life

sentence in an unrelated murder-for-hire plot. Isaac says, according to the website AllHipHop.com, that he was paid $2,500 by Rosemond to shoot and rob Shakur.
Two years ago today, this blog was born.
It started with a post about a devil-worshiping sex offender upset that a commenter said he was not a true member of the Church of Satan.
Since then, this blog has become a hub for crime and court news in the Inland Northwest. I also like to throw in interesting Associated Press stories on Friday mornings or if national events of local interest occur.
I enjoy hunting for fun - and not-so-fun - items to put on here and am proud to say readership keeps growing. Your praise and criticism is needed and appreciated. I am best reached at meghannc@spokesman.com or (509) 459-5534.
Here's to a great future for Sirens. (Let's hope the 'terrible twos' thing is just a phase humans go through.) Be sure to 'like' the blog on Facebook to show you're a true fan.
By the way, I recently received an email from a woman who identifies herself as the devil-worshiping sex offender's ex-wife. Let's just say she agrees with law enforcement's decision to classify him as a sex offender likely to reoffend.
A woman wanted on a felony warrant in Idaho crashed her car into a northeast Spokane home early today after trying to flee a traffic stop, police said.
Erin R. Cain, who turns 26 on Friday, was booked into jail on eluding and gun charges after officers say they found the convicted felon with a firearm after a pursuit that began when she failed to signal before making a right-hand turn, according to an affidavit filed in Superior Court today.
Cain, alias Erin R. Hardgrove, was driving a white 4-door SUV when she turned onto East Bridgeport Avenue from North Nevada Street, then fled police at speeds of about 60 mph in a 25 mph zone, police said.
Cain tried turning left onto North Pittsburg Street from East Liberty Avenue but collided with a fence and into the north side of a home at 1714 E. Liberty Ave. just after midnight.
She tried running from the crash but was arrested near Liberty and North Madelia Street, police said.
Cain has felony convictions for attempting to elude in 2006, car theft in 2008 and drug possession in 2004. Cain was wanted on a warrant for an alleged probation violation related to the eluding conviction. She told police that’s why she fled, according to the affidavit.
The Inland Northwest’s fugitive apprehension organization is offering a reward for a woman celebrating her 26th birthday today - nearly a month after she missed a drug court hearing.
A news release called it “a reward offered to enhance a birthday bash.”
“Crime Stoppers wants to make it special by putting Breanna Lebar behind le bars,” wrote Spokane County Sheriff’s Sgt. Dave Reagan.
Lebar is wanted on eight counts of second-degree possession of stolen property and single counts of possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) and theft of a motor vehicle.
Lebar has no criminal convictions, but Crime Stoppers described her arrest record as “horrendous.”
Her current charges come from three cases filed since January. She entered into drug court April 29 but didn’t show up for a hearing May 13.
Lebar last gave 514 N. Barker Road in Spokane Valley as her address.
Anyone with information on her location is asked to call 1-800-222-TIPS or submit tips online.
Tipsters don’t have to leave their name to collect a reward but should leave a code name or number.
