U.S. attorney helped ID burglary suspect

An assistant U.S. attorney and appointee for a federal judgeship helped identify a suspect in a string of South Hill burglaries by tracking his wife’s stolen coffee shop card.

Tom Rice, who is awaiting congressional confirmation to replace former U.S. District Judge Robert Whaley, was in bed when Nathan Daniel Moore, 30, (pictured) allegedly burglarized his home Nov. 23.

His wife, Heather Rice, that morning noticed her purse and wallet missing, which contained a Starbucks debit card.

Police on Tuesday released this photo of burglary suspect Nathan D. Moore's Toyota 4Runner.

Spokane police have arrested a suspect in a series of burglaries on the South Hill.

Nathan Daniel Moore, 30, was ordered Tuesday to stay in jail  on $20,000 bail for a residential burglary charge after being booked Monday afternoon.

Police believe Moore is the same man seen on surveillance video using a Starbucks card in Airway Heights that was stolen in one of the burglaries, many of which occurred as residents were sleeping.
