Police caught suspected burglar Richard W. Denman shortly after he was shooed out of a West Central home by a rather surprised homeowner.
He appeared in court today for his residential burglary charge and Judge James Triplet issued a $5,000 bond although the state requested a bond of $10,000.
Triplet cited Denman's minimal criminal history for the lower bond, including a felony probation violation, theft and possession of marijuana. He had two failures to appear in 2012 as well, Triplet said.
Police believe Denman was living inside victim Gary Dressler's newly renovated home for about 24 hours prior to his discovery.
Dressler stopped by his home to use the bathroom when he realized the doors were barred with knives. When he broke into his own home, a knife fell to his feet and he chased out Denman and a female suspect as well.
