A pastor and volunteer sheriff’s chaplain exposed himself to a former church member after showing up at her home in a long orange skirt and telling her he’d lost a bet, officials allege.
The Rev. Robert C. Christian, 61, turned himself into the Spokane County Jail Friday and was released. He faces a misdemeanor charge of indecent exposure in Spokane Municipal Court.
Christian, who has been fired as a chaplain, initially denied the allegations when questioned by lead sheriff’s chaplain Curt Quaschnick after a police report was filed in March, according to court documents obtained Monday.
A man arrested after a woman saw him wearing a red g-string and no pants outside a Girl Scouts gathering will be released from jail but must register as a sex offender for 10 years.
Martin J. Green, 29, pleaded guilty today to felony second-degree burglary and a gross misdemeanor sex offense of communication with a minor for immoral purposes.
Green was credited for time spent in the Spokane County Jail, where he's been since his arrest Jan. 22. A woman called police after spotting Green without pants outside the building at 1404 N. Ash St., where the Girls Scouts were hosting a slumber party.
Police say Green was wearing sweat pants when they caught up with him after a brief foot chase, but they were untied and he had a “pocketful of condoms.”
Green's g-string, pocketful of condoms and lack of pants “gives me a great cause for concern for our community,” a prosecutor said at his first court appearance.
A group of traveling prostitutes suspected of settling in Spokane told police they were making good money here because the local competition is so ugly.
One woman is in custody and other arrests are possible as part of an ongoing investigation into a 36-year-old California man who investigators believe has been brokering sex deals while living out of motels in Portland, Seattle and Spokane. Two motel rooms in Spokane were searched this week.
A man with unzipped pants was arrested on suspicion of voyeurism following witness reports that he was spying on young women in Cheney late Friday.
Police responded to the 500 block of Clay Street about 10:45 p.m. Friday, where an Eastern Washington University student said she arrived home to find a man looking into her apartment window.
The woman told officers she'd seen the same man looking into her neighbor's window last week. Police didn't find anyone, but they were called back to the apartment about 11:30 p.m. on reports the same man had returned. A witness told police the man said he was getting fresh air and walked away.
Police didn't locate anyone, but officers responded to the apartments again about 12:52 a.m. after hearing reports the man's vehicle was seen driving by. They stopped the dark Hyundai SUV and identified the driver as Richard Michael Wallingford, Jr., 37, who matched the description of the peeper provided by the victims.
Wallingford's pants were unzipped when he exited the SUV, police said. Two women identified Wallingford as the man who was looking in windows.
Wallingford left jail on $7,500 bond over the week. He appeared in Superior Court today on three counts of voyeurism, where he was given an arraignment date of Feb. 22.
A man arrested for voyeurism outside a Girl Scouts gathering in Spokane was wearing a red g-string and no pants when a woman spotted him early Sunday, officials say.
Martin J. Green, 29, had a “pocketful of condoms” in his untied sweat pants when police arrested him after a brief foot chase near the Girl Scouts office at 1404 N. Ash St., said Deputy Prosecutor Patrick Johnson.
Green's g-string, pocketful of condoms and lack of pants “gives me a great cause for concern for our community,” Johnson said today at Green's first court appearance.
Assistant Public Defender Mike Elston disagreed.
“I fail to see the significance of the allegation of the g-string or the condoms,” Elston said. “The allegation is he looked through a window.”

Officers responded to the office about 12:45 a.m., where the group was holding a slumber party. Police lost sight of Green but caught up with him in the 1700 block of West Mission Street.
A Girl Scouts employee identified him as the shoeless man she saw looking into the building's windows while holding his pants in front of his legs, police said.
Green told police he left his home in the 1500 block of West Sharp Avenue after an argument with his girlfriend and happened to walk by the building. Green said he didn't know the building belonged to the Girl Scouts but he ran because he knew he was trespassing, according to court documents.
Green served eight years in prison in Georgia for a violent crime conviction in 1999, according to court testimony.
Superior Court Judge Annette Plese today set his bond at $10,000. He's to be arraigned Feb. 7.
A Florida man masturbated during a flight from Spokane to Denver last week, a criminal charge alleges.
Two 18-year-old passengers told an FBI agent that they saw Kyle Devin Pearce, 25, masturbating while on board United Airlines Flight 340 on May 19.
One witness said he was sitting behind Pearce when he saw what he was doing and “hit him with my book in the arm, which caused him to stop and leave to the bathroom. After a while he returned,” according to an affidavit. Both witnesses said Pearce's penis was visible.
Pearce was to connect to an Orlando-bound flight but was instead arrested at the airport and appeared before a federal judge in Denver. He posted $25,000 bond Tuesday.
Pearce is charged with crimes aboard aircraft, which carries a maximum 90 days in jail, $5,000 fine and one year probation.
