A Spokane man arrested in Las Vegas after a home-invasion robbery last spring was credited for time served in
the jail after pleading guilty to riot this week.
Taveus M. Brown, 30, took a plea deal that greatly reduced his charges and saved him from the prison sentence imposed on his co-conspirator, Wesley I. Veazie.
Veazie, 22, (right) was sentenced to 43 months in prison with credit for 101 days served last month after pleading guilty to second-degree robbery. He’s now at the Washington Corrections Center in Shelton.
The men originally faced charges of first-degree kidnapping, first-degree burglary and attempted first-degree robbery arrested after a man said they’d burst into his apartment at 2500 E. South Riverton on March 2 and held him at gunpoint.
A SWAT team searched a home at 1921 E. 4th Ave. the next day but didn’t find the men.
A Spokane police dog, Bennie, later captured Veazie after he ran from traffic stop on the North Side. Brown was captured in Vegas.
Two men suspected of a home invasion robbery in Spokane last month are now in police
custody.

Officers conducted the stop with members of the U.S. Marshals Las Vegas police captured his suspected accomplice, Taveus M. Brown (left), 30, Wednesday also.
The men are suspected of bursting into another man’s apartment at 2500 E. South Riverton on March 2 and holding him at gunpoint.

Now they’re in custody on charges of first-degree kidnapping, first-degree burglary and attempted first-degree robbery. Veazie is due in Superior Court this afternoon; Brown is in jail in Las Vegas.
Brown’s extensive criminal history includes convictions for conspiracy to distribute a controlled substance, theft, riot and second degree unlawful possession of a firearm. ’
Veazie has convictions for making a false statement, fourth-degree assault, obstructing an officer, conspiracy to possession of a controlled substance, theft, riot and second-degree unlawful possession of a firearm.
Two men held another man at gunpoint in his Spokane apartment last night while demanding drugs, according to the Spokane Police Department.

Now the SWAT team is looking for the suspects, Taveus M. Brown (left), 30; and Wesley I. Veazie (right), 22. The SWAT team searched a home at 1921 E. 4th Ave. about 4 p.m. today but didn’t find them. Police say Brown lives there with a woman, who was arrested today. Officers then shot at least three rounds of tear gas into the home before discovering the home empty.
Brown and Veazie are accused of bursting into the victim’s apartment at 2500 E. South Riverton about 8:15 p.m. Tuesday.
The men face charges of first-degree kidnapping and first-degree burglary.
