When Elvis performed at Joe Albi Stadium in 1957, my father, Marvin Winton, was assistant manager for the old Coliseum.  Before Elvis’ show, in a noisy, smoke-filled room full of security people and musicians in the little brick administration building at the end of the Stadium, I was a freckled, awkward little 10-year-old girI lost in all the commotion, trying to stutter out a request for an autograph before I died of fright.  Elvis Presley, who was limbering up, waiting to perform on a plywood stage in the middle of a football field, bleachers full of screaming girls, stopped and actually asked my name.  He autographed a picture of himself in a gold lame’ suit.
