The Slice

Something to be said for craft beers

More than once, The Slice has asked readers to recall their fathers' favorite brands of beer.

The answers tend to be fairly predictable. You know, Schlitz, Falstaff, Rainier, et cetera. Once in a while someone will mention a regional brew from the Midwest or South. And that's fun.

But let's face it. Lots of dads of a certain era drank Bud or Miller High Life.

Now let's think about the future. When today's children are someday asked what beers their fathers drank, there's almost no telling what they will remember. That's because there is such amazing variety available today.

And lots of kids will one day be able to answer another question rich with potential: What beer did your mom drink?*

* Not during pregnancy.
