The Slice

It must be tough to work in a funeral home

Last Friday afternoon my wife and I were leaving a Spokane mortuary when an employee near the door spoke to us.

"Have a good weekend."

Probably not the best thing to say in that context. But once outside my wife and I agreed it was way better than performance sympathy.

I was not offended. I bear not one ounce of ill will toward the person who said that. But it did make me wonder about just what someone could say when no words will help.

"Have a good weekend"?

Maybe not. But I've heard worse.
