The Slice

Will birds eat oatmeal?

It seems like they might. And I suppose it should be OK for them.

Here's what prompts the question.

One of the diversions at my mother-in-law's place in Michigan is watching cardinals, blue jays, red-wing blackbirds and other avian visitors chow down on the bird food that gets put out for them. Squirrels and chipmunks also feed freely.

Anyway, my wife and I eat oatmeal. So a box was purchased last week while we were in the Midwest.

But I don't think any of my extended family at that residence eat oatmeal. So I suggested to my mother-in-law that she feed the rest of the box of it to the birds.

OK idea?
