The Slice

Paul’s People, No. 75

People still tell fond Dan Webster stories in the S-R newsroom.
People still tell fond Dan Webster stories in the S-R newsroom.

This is my friend and longtime colleague Dan Webster.

He retired in 2009. Like his many other SR readers, I miss him. Though the truth is, he might be even busier now.

When you're drawing up a list of names of those who have had a significant positive influence on the cultural life of Spokane, Dan has to be on it.

But the guy is much more than a graceful writer and energetic advocate for the arts.

He is and has been a loyal son, brother, husband and father.

And there's another word that describes Dan: Veteran. He served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam.

There are many reasons I respect Dan Webster. But on this day, I think of his service.

Thank you, Dan.
