Not everyplace can be “Children of the Sun”

Was sorry to hear this morning that a friend and longtime reader is moving.

She'll be going to Manteca, California. "Manteca," as you may or may not know, is Spanish for "lard."

(After opening, click on History.)

Speaking of stories. Where do you come down on the matter of whether Spokane actually means "Children of the Sun"?
