The Slice

Remembering Stuart Anderson’s Black Angus steakhouse

"So who else remembers having a $2.99 steak dinner at the Black Angus?" wrote Judith Holter.

"The chain had one of its restaurants near the falls where Anthony's is now. And I had dinner there a few times."

Anderson, a Washington native, died earlier this month.

"I had a lovely date in 1968 or 1969 at the Black Angus. The regular dinner was $2.99. There was an upscale dinner for $3.99. Being frugal and not wanting to break my date's bank account, I ordered the first. Salad, steak, garlic bread, maybe a veggie."
