The Slice

The view from the toilet

"We have a photo of Ozzy (Osbourne) in our bathroom across from the commode," wrote Kurt Braegger.

It has prompted granddaughter Hannah to declare, "I don't like that lady."

Can't blame her.

Reminds me of a scene in the 2012 movie about Abraham Lincoln. It has the president telling a story.

It seems that not long after the Revolutionary War, Vermonter Ethan Allen was dining in England at the home of some British dignitary. He excused himself to visit the water closet. Once inside, he saw a big mounted picture of George Washington.

When Allen rejoined the others, his amused host asked what he thought of the large painting in the water closet.

Allen said he thought the picture was perfectly placed. Because nothing, he said, would make a Brit you-know-what like the sight of George Washington.
