The Slice

Kidnapping part of a museum exhibit

A family of bear.
A family of bear.

If you are looking at this on your phone, you might not be able to see the star of this story in the picture.

He's pretty small. But there at the feet of the towering bear at the Northwest Museum of Arts and Culture is a stuffed bear who has been photographed in many settings over the years. Most recently he was captured in various scenes at the museum's mammoths show.

The couple escorting the small bruin placed him next to the big bear, took his picture, collected him and moved on to check out the mammoths.

But just as they were removing the little stuffed bear from his spot at the feet of the giant bear, several young children appeared. It was clear the kids thought the little bear was part of the exhibit and that the couple walking off with him were absconding with part of the show.

Their wide eyes told the story. One of them was heard to say, in an alarmed tone, "The baby!"

The truth is, the little bear is no baby. He has been around a long, long time. And though it's sometimes hard to know, there is a good chance he enjoyed being mistaken as part of a museum exhibit called "Titans of the Ice Age."
