Lots of tomato plants - for free

The South Perry Blog stopped by the developing Grant Park Community Garden this morning, and things are looking great. There are still a few available beds left - stop by the South Perry Farmers Market on Thursday from 3-6 p.m. and sign up for a bed.

If you don't know what to plant, the Vinegar Flats Community Garden has a BOAT LOAD of tomato starts that need to be planted very soon, or they'll end up in the compost pile. E-mail Kathleen at grantparkgarden@gmail.com if you'd like some.

Community garden workshop Saturday

The Grant Park Community Garden project is holding a workshop on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Grant Elementary School (1300 E. Ninth Avenue). Everyone is welcome.
The workshop will feature a facilitated planning process, a presentation about garden programs and activities, as well as a conversation about garden management and governance.
If you have input on where the proposed community garden should be located in Grant Park, please come. Child care is available on-site and a light lunch is provided.
Questions should go to Brian Estes at (509) 521-0606 or via e-mail to: smsgarden@gmail.com

About this blog

Welcome to the South Perry neighborhood blog. My name is Pia Hallenberg and I’ve worked as a journalist in Spokane since the fall of 1998; for the last four years I’ve lived on South Perry Street.

I love the neighborhood so when time came to pick an area for The Spokesman-Review’s first neighborhood blog, the choice was simple: South Perry is where it’s at.
