Republican candidates for Spokane County prosecutor go head to head to head Monday evening in a forum in the Valley.
The prosecutor’s race has been a contentious contest so far, which is probably why the Republicans of Spokane County picked a moderator who could enforce order …with a gun if need be.
Spokane County Sheriff Ozzie Knezovich will moderate the discussion between incument prosecutor Steve Tucker, former deputy prosecutor Dave Stevens and attorney Chris Bugbee. It starts at 6:30 p.m. at Quality Inn Suites at I-90 and Argonne

Gus,
As mentioned, it’s put on by the Republicans of Spokane County. While Ozzie is serving as the moderator, it’s the organization’s forum, and it’s likely to lead to an endorsement.
Frank Malone is a Democrat, so it’s not surprising he’s not on the panel.

Jim… thank you for the clarification… the Republicans are certainly allowed to meet and give endorsements… but i’ll be there to observe and comment of course… I thought ( perhaps in error) that the “Sheriff” spot was non partisan….. if so there is some surprise with the exclusion… but Sheriff Ozzie is a very competent and fair man…… either way… Mr Malone DOES represent change from the status quo… and in my view the Police Ombudsman Position pivots on the lack of effective prosecution of criminal acts by our Police Force…. It will be difficult to attend both the City Council Meeting and the “Republican” debate about who might best serve our “Community of Other” ( the small people)..:)) to make this Basin safe for everyone… thanks as always for your foreberance (sp) and kindness for my lack of absolute understanding…. best GUS

Oops… not sure why Mr Tucker has the temerity to even run again… i’d be hiding in a hole if I were him… he will be likely subject to all we all know.. and his family is not gonna like that.. j

Jim and Jon… sorry to perceverate on this.. but the “Republicans of Spokane County” I’m told is not the same as the Central Republican Party…. can you tell us more about who/what this group is?? curious of course… best gus

ChefGus,
The Spokane County Sheriff is a partisan office. Kenzovich is a Republican. As you know in my opinion I would vote for anyone other than Tucker. I’m not so sure about Malone because of potential connections with the family. I’ve heard reasonable things about Bugbee and will try to meet with him and sound him out. My real choice for prosecutor chose not to run but will run for some other office in the future.
I wish they would have picked another night for the debate as I too will probably see you at the Council Mtg re the revisions of the Ombudsman ordinance.
For those wanting more information on Tucker they can read here:

I’m also working on another blog post re Tucker’s misstatement of fact that there was a federal grand jury investigation of the Savage death in his County press release.
