OLYMPIA -- Gov. Jay Inslee signed the omnibus which brings medical marijuana under some of the same oversight as the state's recreational pot system.
It sets up a voluntary patient registry, requires medical growers to register with the state and allows medical pot sales out of recreational stores that get an additional qualification.
Patients will be able to grow their own or join small cooperatives, but the large collective grows will be eliminated.
It's strictly a policy bill, and the revenue bill won't pass before the Legislature's regular session adjourns today.
Supporters say, however, they're close to a deal that could allow the other bill to pass in the upcoming special session.
