Spokane Valley

Ads questioning Spokane Valley City Council keep popping up

The Spokane Valley Business Association continues to sponsor advertising questioning decisions made by the Spokane Valley City Council.

The latest ad asks a somewhat oversimplified question: would Spokane Valley residents would rather spend money on hiring more police officers or on painting police cars a custom light blue color?

The question of cruiser color has come up repeatedly at city council meetings when Spokane Valley's contract for law enforcement with the Spokane County Sheriff's Department has been discussed.

Some Spokane Valley residents feel strongly that all police cruisers should be painted a certain way and identified as Spokane Valley Police, where others feel like it doesn't matter what color the vehicle is - or which uniform the officer is wearing - as long as someone responds quickly to a 911 call.

The ads list email addresses and a phone number for Spokane Valley Mayor Rod Higgins and for the city council.

No one from the council has responded to my repeated questions for a comment on the advertising campaign.
