Happy and content

It's been too long since I posted a picture of a cute pet and I'm going through withdrawal. I rummaged around in our archives and found this Picture Perfect photo we ran this spring. Gwyneth Cadwell of Newman Lake submitted this snapshot of Mr. Longtails enjoying a nap on a healthy bed of lettuce during the April showers. I can almost hear the contented purring now.

Picture Perfect is a scrapbook of the people and events in Spokane Valley. We'll publish slice-of-life photographs for free. Just email them in with names and ages of everyone in the photo and information about where and when it was taken. Also include the name and phone number of the person who took the photograph. Send your submissions to pictureperfect@spokesman.com.

Bring on the sun

I pulled this photo out of our achives just because I felt the need to look at something bright and cheerful. This “Picture Perfect” photo was submitted by Richard Chan in 2008. It was taken at Art on the Glass at the Arbor Crest Winery.

Is it spring yet?

A certain groundhog promised me spring, but I'm still waiting. So I found something to keep us going through the long, dark, snowy days of winter. Reader Mike Saeger sent in this “Picture Perfect” submission in 2008, which he called a “sure sign” of spring. It was taken at his mother-in-law’s pond between Valleyford and Mica.

A bright spot in a gray day

It's been mostly gray and dreary out there, so here's a look back at a bright Picture Perfect photo we published in the Valley Voice on November 4, 2007. Michele Nelson took this shot from the Centennial Trail between Barker and Flora Road.

Something other than snow

Yes, snow is nice to look at and this week the trees are looking particularly pretty with their snow covered branches. But sometimes you get tired of gray skies and white snow, so here's a repeat of a Picture Perfect photo we ran last August. This Western Tiger Swallowtail butterfly was spotted in the Newman Lake garden of Sidney and Anna Erickson.

A perfect picture

Longtime Valley Voice readers know that we have an occassional feature on Saturdays called “Picture Perfect” where our readers send in their photos of Spokane Valley scenes. This is a lovely shot by Gwyneth Cadwell, who identifies the flower as a Cholchium (late fall crocus). If you have a picture you would like us to print send a digital photo with caption information, such as names, ages and locations, to pictureperfect@spokesman.com. Be sure to include a daytime phone number in case we have questions.
