Shellhorn phenomenal

Central Valley lefty Rusty Shellhorn’s stock continues to soar as he works his way up the pecking order of Greater Spokane League pitching standouts.

Wednesday he struck out all 21 batters in CV’s 7-inning 5-0 victory over North Central. In all my years following high school sports it’s something I’ve never witnessed and am fairly sure has never happened in GSL history or in the Spokane area for that matter. I’ve read about it nationally, but it’s exceptionally rare.

Shellhorn had a no-hitter going until giving up a double and infield hit in the seventh. Witness accounts said he’d walked one up til then, although the report we received at the S-R said he was perfect.

At any rate, Shellhorn’s effort was spectacular.
