The Ferris streak is over
A new year, a new team, a new beginning. Shadle Park rallied from a 13-point deficit in the final quarter and one-half to defeat plucky young Ferris 66-59 Friday night ending their winning streak at 59 (and GSL win streak at 50). Not that a loss was unexpected, but the team with five sophomores and a freshman and but two seniors, led by 13 with 5 minutes remaining in the third quarter and had Shadle on its heels.
The experience and ultimately the poise of the Highlanders pressured Ferris into youthful mistakes and they hit enough clutch shots to rally.
So far, it seems, everyone in this league save Mt. Spokane wants to play similar uptempo, shoot the three, styles and it will produce entertaining, if unpredictable outcomes as tonight's games showed. Ferris, incidentally, plays five games in a little over a week - Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday, Monday.
Here's my story - have at it:
