Young Cougars test K-State

COUGARS

I know it's December so this shouldn't surprise me, but darn if it isn't snowing again. It's stretches like these that make me wish I was covering Arizona State or UCLA or even Cal Poly. Read on for the one WSU-related link I found this morning.
••••••••••

• The women's basketball team hosted undefeated and 22nd-ranked Kansas State yesterday in Beasley and our Dave Trimmer made the trip down 195 to cover it. Of course, the day Dave makes the drive it's 50 degrees and there's no snow. When I head down this week, it will probably be -20 and the wind will be howling. But I digress. Back to the game. The young Cougars played right with the Wildcats for about 30 minutes before fading down the stretch (sound familiar?). You can read Dave's story here.

• That's about it. I didn't link to any of the game stories from Cal's Emerald Bowl victory over Miami on Saturday, so I'll pass on this column. The Bears' win lifted the Pac-10's bowl record to 2-0. Maybe this crappy conference is better than people thought. And here's a link to Stanford's dismantling of Texas Tech last night. We'll be back later. Till then ...
