Kingma sets record

State 4a basketball: Jackson's Kristi Kingma, who will play collegiately at the University of Washington set a single game girls scoring record today that had stood for 28 years. Kingma scored 43 points beating the old record of 40 set by Joyce Walker of Garfield in 1980. Despite the outburst, Jackson, from Everett, was eliminated from the tournament, 77-74 by Skyview, from Vancouver.

It's 3:35 p.m. as I write, but were just in the third quarter of the final elmination round girls game and just starting the fourth quarter of the boys, so Shadle Park-Decatur, scheduled for 3:30, won't be getting underway until after 4 p.m. (team picture day, you know).
