    BrandonHanson,

Don’t be too concerned about the poll’s! The point of the excercise is to get in the tourney. Then win six in a row. Don’t think they will win 6 in a row but if they get in, there’s a chance for a team like the Zags or UW or ASU or UCLA to win it all.

A fun example is the 1997 ARIZONA team that finished 5th in the PAC-10 and ended up beating 3 #1’s in a row to win the NCAA title! They were 11-7 in the PAC! Didn’t even win the conference championship. It can be done.

Where’s that faith dude? Probably right next to reality but it’s possible.

    Go Zag’s and Coug’s

I just wanna take the time to say THANK YOU to the Gonzaga Basketball program for the past years of exciting roundball. Coach Monson and Coach Few and their assistants…..All of the colorful players….Even the student body…Home games are a BLAST to attend! I wouldnt have missed it for the world! Who woulda EVER thunk it??? Gonzaga has been wearin the cinderella shoes all the mid-majors have been a dieng for for goin on 10+ years…And its brought much joy to set in the pacific northwest and get to watch it all unfold….The family gatherings and BBQs we have had around the games has brought alot of great memories asides from Basketball. Its fun to see youngins fightin over who got to be Adam Morrison on the local playgrounds. It is not gonna last forever we have to be real…Or the USF would still be the team to beat in the WCC or LMU…..All good things end, I hope not anytime to soon…But it will.

I just wanna say that the negativity on here discusts me. How special this has been…and when we dont beat Portland State or Memphis…..The people who are on the here cant seem to hammer the coaches and players with typed rocks and stones enuff….But when they WIN….They are their Biggest fans?
Its easy to find fault……Harder to accept reality it seems. Gonzaga has done far more with their BB program than I could have ever imagined…..Yet some of you complain about a dollar….When theres those without a dime. We are not UNC or UCLA and never will be…..If you are a true fan, Be thankful for the ride … we as fans, have got to go along with. It makes my stomach turn when some of the negative Nellies run Pargo into the ground over and over again The guy came back cause they said he needed more work…..and he is the reigning WCC conference player of the year….He hasnt been playing his best ball of late granted……But I am one who is glad we have him on our team. The reason Austin probably wont be makin himself available for the draft is because I am sure his Dad, Coach and the scouts know he has alot of maturing to do…..I could go on and on….But please people…..Its EASY to type the POISON word and be full of hatred and discontent…But you should all be realistic and realise while we have had turmoil around the world and in the good ol US of A these past few years…Gonzaga basketball has given all of us a chance for a break and something to feel like we are a part of….and I just dont see why everyone has to spit fire and fault when Gonzaga does not win every game by 40 in the WCC and that they dont kick the heck out of every team they play…Myself for one, wouldnt want their schedule if I was a coach, But Few books all the bigs….Year in and year out. We win some and lose some…They won the OLD SPICE tourney this year, But that isnt good enuff for the few remaining bloggers I see on here posting now-a-days. There were years Gonzaga wouldnt have even been considered for these tournaments and some of the teams we get to watch Gonzaga play now and I think they have done just fine. Thereused to be a bunch of us bloggers on here and we all hide out now watching people love the team win they win and yell and scream and call for their heads when they lose. Pretty SAD……Be real, Getta life! Wanna complain, Complain about how hard it is to get a ticket and what the darned scalpers are getting for them! LOL

Thanks SR for letting us state our opins, Not knocking ya all, Just wish you would be more realistic now and again. Jim Meehan has done a wonderful job…..Keep up the good work!

This has all been ummm…hmmmm…..just my opinion!

    Zagattack,
Take 2 aspirin and call me in the morning.

    Dear Zagattack,

If you are going to get on a soapbox for the 10 of us that read this, spell-check. It is not “discusts.” I think you meant “disgusts.”

Other than that, you speech was wayyyyyyyyyyy too long.

Finally, I would say the stuff on this website is pretty tame compare to some others. Just google “GU basketball” and you will see some really robust commentary.

Is anyone else feeling like a scolded puppy?

  • Skov1 on February 16 at 9:39 p.m.

If the Zags are 17 in the country, i just ate my right arm. They would be a middle of the road team in any major conference. Few better realize they need to be motivated or it’s one and done in the tourney.

  • BrandonHansen on February 16 at 9:59 p.m.

Hmmm, well I want to say that the current talk about fans jumping off the bandwagon is absolutely ridiculous. Listening to Patchin and the Wingmen today that’s exactly what they said. GREAT SHOW, but I disagree with them.

After talking to my buddy, a pretty good Zag fan, he said basically no matter what, come March every TV will be turned to the Zags game. Nobody is saying they’re going to stop rooting for Gonzaga. Not a single person. It’s all criticism that has been earned by their play this year. People are being realistic and finally realizing some of the flaws of the team. It’s the ol’ Seahawks technique of preparing yourself for dissapointment, thats all.

I was at the All-Star sports bar at the valley and Zag fans clapped EVERY SINGLE TIME Gonzaga scored. Nobody is jumping off the bandwagon.

But we do have a right to point out that the team is overrated and that they have problems. Because (in a Yoda voice) no criticism leads to no change and no change leads to the Detriot Lions 0-16 season. (end of voice) The one criticism I have with Pacific Northwest is that we never really criticize our teams we’re always like

“Oh Hum, the Cougs are up to their ol ways again. Gee Whiz”
“Oh man, the Mariners just couldn’t cut it this season hmmm well better luck next year”
“Eastern just couldn’t cut the mustard this year.”

Why do you think teams in New York and Boston have so much turnover and media criticism? Why do you think they have so many championships? Because pressure occasionaly leads to sucess. Unfortunately we’re like the Applebee’s manager that lets his staff sneak out during rush time and smoke cigarettes.

Luckily thats starting to change with Zag fans. So dont get butthurt that people are starting to say some negative things about the team.

So, I realize the Zags, in reality are playing poorly compared to their potential. What’s with Sacre? Are we ever going to get him back?

  • RickS on February 18 at 12:20 a.m.

And whoever thought getting Sacre back would be the key question coming down the stretch? Though last I heard his return this season was doubtful.

    Rick
